The Word of God says, “O give thanks unto the Lord…” Well, I want to take a little space to give thanks to my Lord. I said to our church recently that if God never blessed me again I have enough to praise Him for forever. He has blessed me and my family beyond measure. It is wonderful thing to be in the will of God and experience all the wonderful things He has prepared for His children who seek to do His will. God has been so good to me personally.
Our church has been so blessed. There have been trials at times and adjustments to make but God has always been faithful to us. We have seen some saved this year and follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. Our people have given generously to many needs as well as the general budget of the church. We have so much to be thankful for spiritually, numerically, financially and in every way.
I have discovered that it is a lot more fun to give thanks than complaint. Someone has said that “the soul that gives thanks can find comfort in everything; the soul that complains can find comfort in nothing.” Well, since everything is from God, then complaining is finding fault with God. Complaining is a sin against God. If you read the OT you will find that God frowned upon the complaining of His people. The psalmist tells us that when the Lord heard the complainings of His people that “He was wroth”, and His anger came up against them. If God was angry with the Jews then how much more is He with us today.
Well, join me in giving thanks for all that God has done, is doing and will do for His people. Let’s stop to praise the Lord for His goodness. We have much to be thankful for. God has truly blessed our ministry throughout the years and especially this year. As I reflect on the year, I cannot help but “Praise the Lord”. Though undeserving, God in His grace has blessed us richly. We have seen God work in many wonderful ways. Let me encourage you to join me in “thanksgiving” to our Lord for His goodness to us here at Sand Hill Creek. We have no reason to dwell on Complaint Boulevard. Let’s take a stroll down Hallelujah Drive!
